Not all PRP for Hair Loss is the Same: Our "High-Dose" Approach

Updated: Aug 10

platlet-rich plasma PRP for hair loss

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) injections for hair loss have quickly become a standard offering at many regenerative medicine clinics. However, not all hair PRP is the same. In fact, the concentration of platelets can vary greatly.

The platelets are the part of the blood that are rich in growth factors and are responsible for rapid healing and can also stimulate hair growth, increase hair density, and even prevent future hair loss.

Standard PRP protocol yields about 1-2x platelet concentration as compared to the blood levels inside your body. At The PRP Center, we utilize a "high dose" PRP protocol that results in an average concentration of 5-6x your typical blood level. We do this through a combination of factors, including use of a high-grade centrifuge and spin process, specialized PRP kits that yield a higher dosage of platelets, plus a unique extraction process to maximize the concentration.

We utilize a "high dose" PRP protocol for every patient at The PRP Center to optimize results. However, this approach can be particularly helpful for older patients who are experiencing age-related hair loss since research shows your platelet concentration can decrease as you age. Therefore, it's even more imperative a "high dose" protocol is utilized.
