PRP PRE-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS
7 Days Before Treatment

If you are taking any blood thinners, please let your provider know immediately, as they may represent a contraindication to this treatment. These medications include Plavix, Coumadin and Heparin.

5-7 days prior: avoid aspirin, Advil, Motrin, Ibuprofen, Naproxen, Voltaren and other anti-inflammatory medications.

You may use Tylenol (acetaminophen) as needed prior to the treatment.
3 Days Before Treatment​

For best results, 3-5 days prior to treatment, we recommend eating a clean diet (especially increasing intake of green, leafy vegetables), as well as low-fat or no-fat foods. Fatty foods can have the potential to affect your PRP.

If possible, refrain from smoking prior to your procedure as it impacts the healing process.

2-3 days prior: stop minoxidil and/or other topical hair loss treatments, and avoid having your hair colored.

If you are not sure if you should be stopping a medication, please ask.

Increase your intake of fluid the day before your procedure.
Day of Procedure

Wash the AREA OF TREATMENT on the morning of your appointment

Do not apply foams, serums, sprays, gels, or any other styling products or treatments to your hair.

If you wear a removeable hair system, please remove it prior to shampooing and do not wear it before your PRP treatments.

Drink a bottle of water (500 mL) at least 2 hours before your session to make the blood draw easier.

NOTE: Please notify our clinic immediately if you have any active infections on the day of your treatment.
PRP POST TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

It is normal to experience bruising, redness, itching, swelling and/or soreness that may last from 2-5 days following your treatment. If you experience any pain or discomfort you may take Tylenol or other Acetaminophen-containing products as directed.

You may have a bruise at the blood draw site.

You may notice a tingling sensation while the cells are being activated.

In RARE cases, skin infection or reaction may occur, which is treated with an antibiotic or inflammatory. Please contact our office if you have any concerns. Small infections are not life threatening , but should be addressed promptly.

Continue to avoid aspirin, Advil, Motrin, Ibuprofen, Naproxen, Voltaren and other anti-inflammatory medications for 3 days after your procedure (if possible, try for 7 days).

For the first 3 days, use shampoo that is "gentle" or "mild".

Do not use any hair products for at least 12 hours after your treatment.

You can shower and wash your hair the MORNING after the treatment (Approx 12-24 hrs). Warm/hot water is advised to increase blood flow to the scalp (a bare minimum 5-6 hours is advised if you must wash your hair for some other reason). Try to be gentle and use a mild shampoo.

Avoid vigorous exercise, saunas, steam rooms, swimming, and sun exposure for 2-3 days after your treatment.

Avoid resuming Minoxidil (Formula 82M, Rogaine®), hair coloring, and straightening for 3 days.
Contact the Office if any of the Following Signs of Infection Occur:

Drainage

Increased redness at or around the treated area

Fever of 101 or greater

Severe pain that is unresponsive to over-the-counter pain relievers
